Yup, its Gratitude Wednesday, but first…
Because we have such vast imaginations around here we named this guinea “White”. We call him, Whitie, White-ness, Mr. White. ( obscure Reservoir Dogs reference) So he gets a little variety.
To put it simply White is too human. He is having trouble hanging with his group and is getting the razzmatazz because he doesn’t fit in. He has become white fringe, hanging on the edge of the group being made fun of. Even Goofy-Head Fred has a higher rank than White. (I don’t even have a picture of GH Fred, you will have to take me word for it, even for a Guinea he has ONE goofy-head.)
So White comes walking up to the door on occasion, pecks at the screen and when the door opens he comes in and walks down the hall to find Nathan. He hangs out awhile and walks himself to the door to be let out when he is ready to be outside again.
Yes, he poops on the floor, but its nothing a baby wipe can’t handle.
Its gets so we know his voice, a little whistle only he does. I hear him around 5:30am for his breakfast and I open the door and leave it open in case he wants to come in. Through the day as the Guinea Herd makes laps around the yard he stops at the doors and porches yo give his whispery whistle. He likes to hang out when I am digging in the garden just in case I uncover a grub. Very Noisy. I get a bit freaked out when he fixates on my eyeball ( we’re on the same level) I think he might just give it a peck one of these days. He already goes after my toes in sandals. I back away alternating knees to chests saying, “No Toes, Whitie! No Toes, Whitie! No Toes, Whitie!” Which if you heard me say it real fast over and over and with real fear ( Guinea beaks poke, pinch and slice in one swift painful movement, it took only 3 times for me to figure out I didn’t like it!) you would think I had a touch of sunstroke.
Anywho, leaving my blibbery toe safe song and dance…
I didn’t hear White after 8am yesterday. It wasn’t the only thing on my mind, so I didn’t go looking until about 3:00. I expected to find him in his usually places, hanging out at the fringe of guinea society. No luck, Georgie, Fred, Siren and Olive were all grouped up scanning for bugs in the wildflower garden. No Whitie.
I looked.
and looked,
and looked.
Finally I found white-dude tucked under a thornbush outside the yard where dogs without borders roam and make that “hungry” dogs without borders. I called him and he didn’t come, just stood there on one leg looking scared. Then he took a step toward me and fell clean over! I mean the eat-dirt-face-smacking-fell clean over.
His feet were all tangled with string. Well can’t get back over the fence like that and can’t make a bunch of noise… who knows who might come to help…Chomp! So he had settled in to wait for rescue.
He must have been out there for a while because he was pretty dehydrated. I, thinking it would be a prickly extraction came in and got the boys, telling them to wear long sleeves and gloves…you know… thornbush! Dillon wriggled in under the bush without a scratch and snatched White right up and that was all it took! LOL! Safety Mom does overkill! *guffaw* Dillon and Nate got the string off of him and he came in the house for a cuddle.
He likes his Nathan.
GRATITUDE WEDNESDAY WITH GS CREATIONS
This week I want to introduce you to Gaye of GS Creations. I just LOVE her stuff! All the while I am pretty intimidated by it as well. Let’s just say, I am in AWE! Even though, “Dumbstruck”, might be a better word. LOL! Her stuff is so knock out gorgeous I have collected all her freebies and bought her Easter Garden Kit. ( …goes so far beyond any Easter Kit I have ever seen!) STILL, I don’t make anything with them! I have all the best intentions, yet my gutsy intentions fall flat before I even open the files.
This ever happen to anyone out there? Been so intimidated by a wonderful kit or doodad you never even open the FILES??
What I would really like to do is send her my pictures and have HER make all the pretties! LOL! Because her style is so unique I want to duplicate it exactly. There is that perfectionism of mine poking its head out of the ground like a weed! When my perfectionism takes a hold of me I just get stuck. Afraid to move.
Can’t move forward…can’t stop the nagging feeling there is something I need to do…Oh yeah…get over myself!!
Note to Jodiann: Have a good laugh and get out of your own way. Perfection is unattainable, you’ve see Tin Cup a hundred times, internalize this already!! *Hoot* Now Go Open Those Files, Girl!
So this week I chose Gaye not only because she makes wonderful creative designs that break the mold, and I want to get over my barriers and crack open her stuff already!! *grin*
Here goes…
Sweet Heaven! That was a blast! I really should get out of my own way more often.
Gaye’s work is just exquisite! What WAS I afraid of? The wooden frames in the Easter Garden Kit are even more beautiful than this tiny image can show. The ribbons have such deep detail and still keep their “fantasy” quality with a soft sheen to them. No glaring highlights anywhere in this kit! What richness. The color palette is an elegant pastel never too dark and certainly not washed out. Strong colors, again with that “fantasy sheen” I found it hard to choose only a few elements. I wanted to slap them all over the place so I could show more and more, but I controlled myself…just barely!
I am kind of a sucker for green so I go there without thinking, but just as you see three interesting papers in green for me to use, so are blue and gold with multiple, but completely different patterned paper. This is not a re-color kit by any means! So if those colors are you go to colors you will be happy! happy! That little cattail embellishment is a freebie on Gaye’s Blog. See how everything she does works so well together? Great Stuff!
I am glad I got over being intimidated and hope you give Gaye’s work a try too. Such wonderful goodies await you! I am going to try her templates next I bet they are just as wonderful!
Happy Wednesday!
