Thanks Tracey!

Popping in on a beautiful Sunday morning to shout out to Tracey in the US a mighty THANK YOU! She has downloaded pretty much every freebie I have made and left a “Thanks for sharing!” comment each time at 4 shared. It tickled my soul to see her cavalcade of sweetness!

Mouse blowing in the wind Thank You

Normally I don’t live (or die) by comments, they are wonderful don’t get me wrong!… But I know y’all are busy…and what can you say that someone hasn’t already said??  I am a freebie collector myself so I know what its like to look at that empty comment box and go blank!! Duh!

I see the number of downloads go up up up and I feel the warm fuzzies you all are sending subliminally! *grin*!!

But to leave a comment EVERY time! Tracey, Girl You Rock! Pat yourself on the back, because you are a fountain of thoughtfulness!!

You made my Sunday and I just had to tell you…OODLES of THANKS!

Blessed Sunday Everyone!

ANGEL TEARS FREEBIE QUICKPAGE

Do you know what happens when Designers Kim B and Jenni Rousseau (Chaos Lounge) decide to make a Collaboration Kit?

MAGIC!

I was fortunate enough to get my mitts on this kit ANGELS TEARS about a week ago and its been hard not being able to blog about it. I have had such fun building!!  I have built about 5 pages so far and picked the best 2 to convert to Quickpages.

First Quickpage Freebie

jodiann_AT_LO_01web

http://www.4shared.com/file/107939123/b163b740/jodiann_AngelTears_QP-01.html

What I like best about this kit is the versatility, if you like baskets, buckets, and containers to fill you have  plenty to choose from and plenty to fill them with!  Like strings?? A good supply of those are in there too. Cluster Madness! So much to layer into your layouts! Can we talk about the papers??? Great Googlie! There is so much variety across the board with both designers clocking in their best ones Each paper is diverse in texture, color fading, and edge effects…its just hard not to choose everything!!

I think Jenni and Kim build very well together, their differing styles add just the right amount of fantasy ( Jenni) and reality ( Kim) to a kit to please everyone! Folks who prefer realistic elements (like me) will be tickled to get at all they crave and  encouraged to try more fantasy elements once in a while. It all works so well, I found myself “trying on” a fantasy element and going for more outrageous papers!! I feel my horizons  have EXPANDED! LOL!

A heavy wine/winemaker theme runs through Angels Tears. It balances the more feminine elements making this a good kit for male dominated pictures and mixed group photos too. I can see it used for picnics, garden pictures and of course travel!! A more mature turn from the typical summertime kit themes this is one kit that will still be relevant in the fall. Long term this kit would make an AWESOME cookbook for your favorite foodie next Christmas…and you can finish it before the holiday rush! *wink* Ta-Da!

This kit will rock your next party invites!

The secondary theme of music runs through many of the papers and elements lightening up the heavy browns in the wood/woodsy frames and containers. This is a lovely surprise to find. I thought a leaf was a leaf?? Looking closer you will find these leaves have something more to say.

It goes well with any “old world” theme you are putting out there, Wine, Women and Song …its all covered here. Wonderful addition to any vintage layout, will really lift the interest, especially if your  vintage layouts suffer from lack of color.

Second Quickpage Freebie

jodiann_AT_LO-02preview

http://www.4shared.com/file/107944407/c2b9d7fd/jodiann_AngelTears_QP-02.html

The brushed metal sheen to the Alpha in this kit could be taken from a musical instruments gleam. Just enough shine to be elegant, but not enough to show up your layout. I like how it stood out just enough AND could handle a darker, wider drop shadow than most text or alphas out there. The Alpha comes in both upper and lower case with plenty or punctuation and extra goodies to work with. Its BIG, like all the elements in this kit so resizing for your changing needs will not leave you with jaggies or pixilation. No Never!

DSO May Color Challenge!

Its Freebie Thursday and I have a freebie! WhooHOO!

Before Nate’s surgery it was a lot of hurry up and wait, so I had time to build a LO for DSO May Color Challenge.  He is doing much better now, we finally had to just bang him over the head with a frying pan!

Okay I’ll fess up…we  fed him high carb foods ( Ensure, pudding, and popsicles) until he lapsed into a carb-coma and stopped rambling around the house.  Then we watched a DVD movie he didn’t want to watch so I feel we accomplished something! LOL!

Dearest Thanks for ALL your well wishes for our Nate. He is trucking right along and even ate some scrambled eggs last night…a feat considering his upper and lower jaws have been stitched together at the gums…ouch!

Stitches come out in a week…hello Jello! LOL!

If he’s got a mind to start backtalking…this week is a good time to give it a whirl!! * giggle*

Be Back Thursday…

Howdy Y’all!

Our Nathan had dental surgery today and though we were prepared for it, his reaction to anesthesia was shall we say “stubborn”. He did not sleep through the surgery…talking the entire time. I am sure that made it harder to yank his teeth out! LOL! He is suppose to be sleeping it off but gets up and tools around the house like a sleepwalker.  Not fully aware he is mobile, or what he is saying either.

He is a hoot, but an unsteady one…so I will see you all tomorrow.

I am glad all went well and he is home tucked in his bed…at the moment!~ LOL!

Guinea Wrangling!

Let’s pretend its Monday! I have a freebie for you as promised so let’s play pretend. BUT first, let me tell you about my sweet neighbor Kelly!

Dillon, Nathan and I had gone over to visit our Helen, she had a little something for the boys to do, dig some holes plants, some trees…that sort of thing. We were on our way back when we see Kelly driving a bit wild on her riding mower. Hmmm? We get closer to home and upon seeing us our Guinea brood dashes from the tall grass and across the road. Turns out Kelly was trying to mow the field between her house and ours and the Guineas heard the noise and  ran over to search for bugs in her wake! Her dogs didn’t much like their tresspass and Kelly was worried some munching would happen. So she decided to heard our birds back to our border and hope they would stay.

What she didn’t know is our Guineas are technically “Mower Aggressive” They play chicken with the mower and by the time we showed up more mower chasing had happened than Guinea Wrangling.

Between my giggles I told her they are scared to death of brooms, rakes, bamboo poles, but they will chase the mower. They chased a wayward cement truck last week, I thought the driver was going to have a heart attack because they went right for the tires. Cement trucks don’t just stop when you want them to, they need a little lead time, so the driver was very happy to see that not even one psycho guinea hen lost their lives.  Kelly agreed…”They were chasing me! I was afraid they would get got by the mower!”

See, try to do a good thing and this is how it goes down, save them from the dogs, they throw themselves at the mower!

Many Thanks, Kelly for thinking of our birdies and trying to shoo them back where they belong!

WITH THE ALLIGATOR PURSE 04

FREE STUFF!

I am not sure this is the end of With The Alligator Purse or not. So let’s just say for now, we are nearing the end so there are no powerful surprises.

The rains this spring have been good to our lillies and the colors were magnificent! I have never seen them so pink or so large. To think I was going to return these bulbs! LOL! I got them in the mail with some banana trees and thought they had arrived by mistake so I boxed them up to return. Well little did I know, these mail order plant places don’t bother with returns, they just tell you to keep the stuff if its wrong. Turns out these bulbs were a free gift! Well, I still didn’t want them. I had heard the complaints of gardeners about lilies needing lots of added nutrition and my mulch is precious. I can never produce enough. I didn’t want silly flowers stealing all my precious mulch! LOL!

I planted the monsters after I tried to return them. They came up in all kinds of colors the first year even a dark dark purple. But over the years just the orange ones and a few dark red have survived. The yellows were the first to go…maybe they were whimps! I do give them a good amount of my mulch…SEE I told ya so! Mulch Horders!  But they are so pretty and bloom for such a short time I guess its worth it.

If this is the first you’ve heard of this freebie series don’t forget to collect the rest of them…just keep scrolling down you will find them all! WHoo HOO!

Blown!

Howdy All!

I am going to fire up the barb-B-Q later today and cook some meat for our  Memorial Day Dinner. And somehow the thought of that was so comforting I slept in 5 hours this morning! LOL! Effectively blowing my head start on today to pieces.

HOoT!

So right now, there is no freebie finished. It may be somewhere between the making potato salad, the bread rising in the oven, but for now the safest bet is it will post it tomorrow.  “Let’s just see if Jodiann pulls off the dinner! LOL!”, says Jodiann standing at her computer with bed head and shuffling around in socks, toothbrush hanging out of mouth while typing…hard to see the finish line from here! *snicker*

SO why am a writing if I have nada to offer?

I did want to express my gratitude to  those who gave their lives defending my freedom. I value your sacrifice and honor your duty to myself, my family, our shared country.  I hold those who have given their lives for this country and for those mothers who sent them, most dear, because I will not send my own sons.  You are willing to do something I could never do and for this courage you have my deepest regard.

Be Yourself Layout

I was fiddling around with Kim B ‘s Weekly Grab Bag Friday night. There is a great bundle of masks in this lot. Just the kind I like with  interesting floral bits mixed into the edges. I am a big fool for florals especially realistic florals.

So I slapped two of her masks on top of each other to double my fun…backed it in a paper made with another part of her Grab Bag…Painted Canvas Textures, bridged the gap with some stringies from Stringy Things 3 and laid on the goofy photos to build this layout bridge to nowhere! I know I am riding the Kim B Train pretty hard, all I can say is …Hop On! Let’s ride! LOL!

My friend from high school wrote me an email a few days ago with the quote ( Be Yourself, Everyone Else Is Taken!) and I had to throw that in. Sure gets right to the point!  Thanks Scheller! Love to your babies and your sweet John-John!

Be-Yourself

I planned on making this some artsy little LO to show off to some  new website clients of mine using some devastatingly good art photos taken a the zoo a while back, but after finding these delicious low quality outtakes of Dillon, Nathan, and Jack in the zoo folder I went for those. Who wants to see devastatingly good art photos anyway?? It remains to be seen if my client ( Hey, Ray and Ray!) will still want a website from me after this, but at least they will know what they are in for if they stay! LOL!

Always good to be forewarned! *guffaw*

Photo Friday, Not.

Yes, today is Photo Friday, but I have no photos. So does that just make today plain old Friday?

I hope not! LOL!

I try to carry my camera everywhere but to be honest I shot nothing this week. I did spend most of the week with my boys re-routing our air conditioner venting, Believe me, there was nothing in there I want to remember in pictures!

Our cats have a bad habit of climbing on the kitchen cabinets, which lead them to some bump lighting around the perimeter. This goes to an overhang where they disappear into the wall. We thought they were just sleeping in there, well there was other stuff too…if you know what I mean. We found a pile of cat toys also but mostly, just the poo. Shop-Vac to the rescue!

What started it all, was the light went out in the laundry room. I looked up flashing the switch over and over ( like that helps) and saw light coming out of the AC vent hole. Odd? Should be a closed system, right? SO the hunt was on.  We traced the problem to the cats getting into the crawl space and tearing the venting material to bits. So we were crawling around in those same tight spaces all week replacing and repairing. I have a new appreciation for AC repairmen! A little less for fiberglass insulation!  AND homebuilders…goodness did you have to run the pipes over and under every fool thing! It was a honkin’ mess in there! Electricians! You are wonderful all neat and tidy…its the pipe guys I am snarking at! LOL!

I spent a lot of time with one cheek smooshed up against a waste water pipe reaching both hands around one for the universal vac, just barely able to make it past the copper incoming water pipes to make a repair with my fingertips. Thank Goodness for a flashlight that stands on its own because I did not have another hand to hold it! LOL! I love tools! They rock!

Because we did so much work and didn’t want to re-do it, the boys did some carpentry to close up the overhang to visitors.  The first time I wasn’t standing over the top of them eyeballing everything they did or even there. I was jammed in a vent! LOL! They did a tremendous job! I am so proud of my DIY guys!  Jack got home just in time to help with the last of the wood barriers for the cats! Whoo HOO! His fresh brains on the job were sorely needed, we were all mentally exhausted and couldn’t come up with anything that sounded good.  Thanks Jack, Honey!

Phew! Glad that is over!

Unfortunately for Photo Friday, the fixes are made so nothing shows. So again, no photo op.

In scrapbooking news, I did pick up the new Weekly Grab Bag from Kim B. And I made this layout with her Paperwaves, just one of the 4 full-sized goodies this week. You can use these with any papers. Brings new life to your old standby papers. A really great ‘get’ for your stash.

This may be my favorite pictures of my brothers. The only thing is missing is Randy is taking it and not in it. That would put it over the top on my list. Its hard to see, but over Dave’s ( shirtless) shoulder is a big bunch of rope. I think the coil scrapes the ground its so big! LOL! They were climbing and repelling that day, but I bet my Mom thought they were at a friends house or she would have put a stop to that!! *wink*

With The Alligator Purse 03

Freebie Thursday and I am feeling fine! Whoo HOO! Life is good! Many Thanks going out to the wonderful readers who write me and make my day! I can never thank you all enough for your fellowship!

Thanks Su Hall for remember the BEST jump rope rhyme and sharing it with us!

Cinderella, dressed in yellow,
Went upstairs to kiss her fellow.
By a mistake, she kissed a snake.
How many doctors did it take?  (Start counting)

Ah! Jump rope! Those were the days!

GUM PASTE ORCHID

For Easter I planned a dessert for each of my boys ( Jack is always included when I say my boys! *wink*) Jack got cherry pie, Dillon got brownie pie and Nate wanted cake. I was going to make one but then we saw this pretty white cake with a gum paste orchid on the top.

It looked like it was made of sugar. Can’t eat it, but is sure was pretty. Gum Paste is some kind of …something. I am sure the better bakers out there know what this is? All I know is is melts if its humid and it was sure humid that day.

We took pictures of it before it melted away in the refrigerator. I extracted it and it looks pretty real and I thought now was the time to put it with all the color of the With The Alligator Purse Series.

White

Yup, its Gratitude Wednesday, but first…

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Because we have such vast imaginations around here we named this guinea “White”. We call him, Whitie, White-ness, Mr. White. ( obscure Reservoir Dogs reference) So he gets a little variety.

To put it simply White is too human. He is having trouble hanging with his group and is getting the razzmatazz because he doesn’t fit in. He has become white fringe, hanging on the edge of the group being made fun of. Even Goofy-Head Fred has a higher rank than White.  (I don’t even have a picture of GH Fred, you will have to take me word for it, even for a Guinea he has ONE goofy-head.)

So White comes walking up to the door on occasion, pecks at the screen and when the door opens he comes in and walks down the hall to find Nathan. He hangs out awhile and walks himself to the door to be let out when he is ready to be outside again.

Yes, he poops on the floor, but its nothing a baby wipe can’t handle.

Its gets so we know his voice, a little whistle only he does.  I hear him around 5:30am for his breakfast and I open the door and leave it open in case he wants to come in.  Through the day as the Guinea Herd makes laps around the yard he stops at the doors and porches yo give his whispery whistle.  He likes to hang out when I am digging in the garden just in case I uncover a grub. Very Noisy. I get a bit freaked out when he fixates on my eyeball ( we’re on the same level) I think he might just give it a peck one of these days. He already goes after my toes in sandals. I back away alternating knees to chests saying, “No Toes, Whitie! No Toes, Whitie! No Toes, Whitie!” Which if you heard me say it real fast over and over and with real fear ( Guinea beaks poke, pinch and slice in one swift painful movement, it took only 3 times for me to figure out I didn’t like it!) you would think I had a touch of sunstroke.

Anywho, leaving my blibbery toe safe song and dance…

I didn’t hear White after 8am yesterday. It wasn’t the only thing on my mind,  so I didn’t go looking until about 3:00. I expected to find him in his usually places, hanging out at the fringe of guinea society.  No luck,  Georgie, Fred, Siren and Olive were all grouped up scanning for bugs in the wildflower garden. No Whitie.

I looked.

                  and looked,

                                        and looked.

Finally I found white-dude tucked under a thornbush outside the yard where dogs without borders roam and make that “hungry”  dogs without borders. I called him and he didn’t come, just stood there on one leg looking scared. Then he took a step toward me and fell clean over! I mean the eat-dirt-face-smacking-fell clean over.

His feet were all tangled with string. Well can’t get back over the fence like that and can’t make a bunch of noise… who knows who might come to help…Chomp! So he had settled in to wait for rescue.

He must have been out there for a while because he was pretty dehydrated. I, thinking it would be a prickly extraction came in and got the boys, telling them to wear long sleeves and gloves…you know… thornbush! Dillon wriggled in under the bush without a scratch and snatched White right up and that was all it took! LOL!  Safety Mom does overkill! *guffaw* Dillon and Nate got the string off of him and he came in the house for a cuddle.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

He likes his Nathan.

GRATITUDE WEDNESDAY WITH GS CREATIONS

This week I want to introduce you to Gaye of GS Creations. I just LOVE her stuff! All the while I am pretty intimidated by it as well. Let’s just say, I am in AWE!  Even though, “Dumbstruck”, might be a better word. LOL! Her stuff is so knock out gorgeous I have collected all her freebies and bought her Easter Garden Kit. ( …goes so far beyond any Easter Kit I have ever seen!)  STILL, I don’t make anything with them! I have all the best intentions, yet my gutsy intentions fall flat before I even open the files.

This ever happen to anyone out there?  Been so intimidated by a wonderful kit or doodad you never even open the FILES??

What I would really like to do is send her my pictures and have HER make all the pretties! LOL! Because her style is so unique I want to duplicate it exactly. There is that perfectionism of mine poking its head out of the ground like a weed! When my perfectionism takes a hold of me I just get stuck. Afraid to move.

Can’t move forward…can’t stop the nagging feeling there is something I need to do…Oh yeah…get over myself!!

Note to Jodiann: Have a good laugh and get out of your own way.  Perfection is unattainable, you’ve see Tin Cup a hundred times, internalize this already!! *Hoot* Now Go Open Those Files, Girl!

So this week I chose Gaye not only because she makes wonderful creative designs that break the mold, and I want to get over my barriers and crack open her stuff already!! *grin*

Here goes…

jodiann_LO_GS_EaterGarden_web

Sweet Heaven! That was a blast! I really should get out of my own way more often.

Gaye’s work is just exquisite! What WAS I afraid of? The wooden frames in the Easter Garden Kit are even more beautiful than this tiny image can show. The ribbons have such deep detail and still keep their “fantasy” quality with a soft sheen to them. No glaring highlights anywhere in this kit! What richness.  The color palette is an elegant pastel never too dark and certainly not washed out. Strong colors, again with that “fantasy sheen” I found it hard to choose only a few elements. I wanted to slap them all over the place so I could show more and more, but I controlled myself…just barely!

I am kind of a sucker for green so I go there without thinking, but just as you see three interesting papers in green for me to use, so are blue and gold with multiple, but completely different patterned paper. This is not a re-color kit by any means! So if those colors are you go to colors you will be happy! happy!  That little cattail embellishment is a freebie on Gaye’s Blog. See how everything  she does works so well together? Great Stuff!

I am glad I got over being intimidated and hope you give Gaye’s work a try too. Such wonderful goodies await you! I am going to try her templates next I bet they are just as wonderful!

Happy Wednesday!
