Paisley Daisey QP

Howdy Y’all!

I got to go to the DIY store with my hubby, Jack this weekend! Whoo HOO! We are a bag of fits at those places. We both think we know what isle we need to be in and its two different isles, one of us is talking ( okay..ME!) and the other one stops to look and we lose each other. When we do finally corral one another we have seen all kinds of new things and drag each other all over the store showing off the stuff we saw. We pass the crew members so many times they just giggle and nod. I bet we are not the only ones who do this! *guffaw*

We needed a transformer for a shop light in our laundry room. It went out a while back and I just got around to getting the giant bulbs it requires and that was not the problem. So we stood in the isle looking at our choices for a new light fixture vs.  just buying the transformer… Well it took us forever to decide what to do about it. I know zilch about electrical work, but that didn’t stop me from gumming up the decision with all kinds of wild ideas. My poor Jack, he is so patient to even listen to this nonsense. He is deaf in one ear so he will tell you he only listens to half of what I say. That in itself has added years to our marriage! *giggle* Finally we went for the more work, less money option and bought the transformer.

Then we headed for our favorite spot…tools! I want one of those new fangle air hammers! Its about the size of remote control and will drive a 3 inch nail! SLAM! Gimme Gimme! Wireless too! Jack keeps going back to this viewfinder thingie that Milwaukee Tools makes that lets you see inside walls. Its very cool, but I doubt we would use it much.  I think we just need a sledge hammer to go at the wall with, but that is just me! LOL!

Anyhoo! That was the excitement of the weekend! Jack worked on that darn light for nearly 2 days and itsstill not working right. What an angel! I just bumped around the ladder telling him my crazy ideas. I really need to learn a few things about electricity.

* Guffaw *

Nathan continues to progress from his Oral Surgery. Last of the meds today. He can’t wait till the stitches come out on Wed. He is ready to get his mouth open large enough to brush. What a trooper!

Oh! Yes, its Freebie Monday!!

I built this little QP from some doodles I found in my stash and this adorable paisley print overlay I uncovered too. Credits below.

I thought it looked interesting and continues the dip I am taking into my hippie roots. ( My Catholic mainstream parents have just clutched their hearts and are wondering why…they should know its me by now, but they have 5 other wacky kids to clutch their hearts over as well! ) Okay, my “wanna-be Hippie Roots!!” LOL!

Gratitude List!

A few thoughts instead of a list today.

I have so much to be thankful for. My friend Helen who is wildly independent and lives alone on large acreage is teaching me to be thankful for the smallest of things…being able to lean over, kneel, grasp trash bags and tie them. Work long hours in the sun. Lift dog food, soil and mulch bags.

She is where we all will be someday, God willing. Past 80 and living life mostly on her own terms. She drives, cleans her own home, hauls hose to her many trees and plants, keeps pets, and hitches up her own trailer to her own truck. Runs a successful organization to preserve a local landmark, doing much of the labor herself, but as she readily reminds me much less than she used to do. Like I said, Helen is teaching me to value what I can do today because it will not always be this way.

Its stings like crazy for Helen to ask for help and for a high throttle mover and shaker having to wait others to get around to helping out can be quite a bother. Yet, she manages to be kind and patient with us…young ones. Who think we will always be young and able.

May we all learn to value the little things before we can no longer do them.

Thanks for the lessons Helen!
