So sorry to promise I would be back with a freebie and didn’t come. I could say a big hairy gorilla kidnapped me and took me to his mountain of gold and by the time I convince him to let me go it was sunset, so we watched that and then there was cake.

…And the return trip to make.

…And once we got here we got to talking and I made coffee and he stayed on a while longer talking to Jack and the boys.

    BUT…

It was all SO less glamorous than that! LOL!

You have had these days I am sure, they start out with such promise and the path seems nicely laid out before you. Its like the Wizard of Oz …with the soaring lyrics and soundtrack too! Then someone drops a house on you and your toes curl up and your shoes pop off!  *eyeroll*

Well, then you know how my day got away from me and there was nothing left to do at the end of it but jump in bed and start over in the morning! *smile*

I did finish the Alpha Freebie though, its all that other stuff that didn’t get done… making the preview…which I always hem and haw over. ( read dilly dally) the folding it up real small, the tucking in all the notes about how I made it and if you want more come back and see me, the arm wrestle with 4 shared to place it on the web so more than just me can play with it.  For all that I ran out of steam, but today is a fresh new day!

Thanks God… for all those fresh starts!!

Speedy morning fingers typing and early AM  4 shared wrestling seems to work better than late night butt dragging… for me anyway.

    Morning Person at your service!

Each time I think this series is done, I think of a new angle to keep it fresh in my mind.  I often forget to make something with my kits to show…you know on the the next thing. It would be fun to play with my own kits and not rush off so fast. I feel I will enjoy playing creative team with my own goodies.  Thanks Marty H. for thinking and suggesting this to me. You are a great friend/fan. Best of luck with the new baby! I wonder why I didn’t think of this myself, but sometimes when my nose is pressed so close to the window I forget its there, pushing my nose into a piggy formation. * guffaw* and still I notice nothing! LOL!

    HOot!

    PHOTO FRIDAY!

What a wonderful week for photos! Storm after storm came through our place and I would go out to photograph the clouds but ended up being distracted by something smaller until the light was gone.

We had quite a treat on Monday.  Yet, another storm was coming and I thought to lure our Guineas into their pen for more protection for them and found a HUGE Texas Rat Snake eating their eggs. ( we have yet to get a clutch to hatch out…its always something interrupting the cycle. Maybe its for the best and we just don’t know it yet??)

The heavy straw in the nest covering him up and it was too dark in the box for me to get a good picture. By the time I got my 3 boys and the camera on him the snake was spooked.

Tuesday, Nate found the snake sunning in the yard, bold as brass!  A good 7 feet long and with 8 bulges we think could be 8 guinea eggs. No wonder it was moving slow and has such a smile on its face! LOL!

What a wonderful pose striker he was. Dillon and I took more than 1 hundred pictures and came up with some beauties. Eventually Nathan had to pet him! After hours as a model and being petted on we left him to his roaming. Stay out of the road, big guy! Steer clear of people with shovels, rakes and weed wackers!

BTW, Texas Rat Snakes are not poisonous. They are quite helpful actually, eating mice, lowering the chance of disease from these rats and mice, they keep to themselves and if given the chance will just move off when they encounter you. They can be testy when pushed, but give you plenty of warning when you overstay your welcome. Often mistaken for Rattlesnakes, because they have a similar pattern though instead of rattlers, rat snakes’ pattern is more torn patches rattlers have clean edges to their distinct geometric triangles. When rat snakes get ticked off they will warn with a shake of their tail tips just like rattlers. Soundlessly, because they have no rattles.

This can get them in trouble with shovel slayers!

We are happy to have this garden visitor keeping the mice down. We are surrounded on 3 sides by grassland. Its an oasis for mice and our cats either don’t or can’t keep up.  The hawks do their part, surely. I feel better knowing wild creatures are being fed. Our cats don’t need the meal.

The dogs might find this rat snake someday and as a pack do it harm. But one on one, I will trust nature to take care of nature. Charlie Girl was sporting a swollen eyebrow Thursday and I thought I saw a tiny puncture there. If she was messing about with the snake it probably knocked her down a peg or two, nothing more. Most likely she was chasing a Blue Jay and it taught her a lesson. She barks and chases birds constantly and the bird consortium has wanted posters out on her! LOL! They dive bomb her constantly!

Okay, blabbing is done…on with the pictures! LOL!
