Infinite Supply
Challenge Tuesday is today! But first…
"Supply is infinite and invisible. Money and things are not supply. They are evidence of supply. “
~ Michael Beckwith
I read this quote this morning from Ann Strong, who sends out a newsletter called the Sacred Space Notebook each Tuesday. She goes on to relate her issues with money and its a wonderful read with plenty to think about. I often get solid deep thoughts all day Tuesday after reading her. Thanks Ann.
The naysayer in me has to ask, If money and things are not supply but evidence of supply… Supply of what? Success? Common Sense? Good Karma? Blessing? Determination? Ambition? Ego? Or something more concrete I am not seeing? Or is Supply just referring to bounty or plenty? This will be knocking around in my head all day! Like an itch to be scratched over and over. * Hoot*
I guess I will have to fess up and say I don’t believe Money and Things are evidence of supply at this moment, but I might after I think about it. I CAN believe that supply is infinite and invisible because all the things I named above are.
Going back to money and things as evidence of supply I didn’t name happiness because I don’t think money is supplied by or represents happiness. Now “ happiness as a thing evident of supply“ I can get behind.
The happiest I have ever been have been the moments when I was thankful for the smallest “things”. A cool drink from the hose after a hour working in the garden. The best tasting stuff EVER! A smooshed strawberry/cream cheese sandwich after hiking all morning. MMMM! That is 4 Ms of happiness!! Let me go even smaller…A stiff breeze on sweaty skin. That is a God-thanking moment. Just stand there and feel happy! WHOO Hoo! How about SHADE. Now that is SUPPLY. Imagine the world without shade. A nightmare!
Yet I know, the quote was meaning “money and things” as money and the material stuff we buy with money. The words are to lead us to a different relationship with money and material goods. To think of them in less of a needy way. So again I am stumped on the concrete usefulness even though spiritually it sounds dreamy wonderful. I will have to think on that some more.
I have got to tell you this story about the concept of infinite supply… and how it saved a Saturday in January. Talk about concrete usefullness…
Jack is a hoarder. He has saved chocolate from one Easter basket until his next year’s Easter basket arrives. Honest Injun! He hides Ritz crackers in their sleeves all around the house. As if, hunger might strike him on the toilet! Don’t worry he is covered. I found a sleeve of crackers when the toilet paper got dangerously low last week. Did I move them? Not on your sweet bippie!! ( I think bibbie means butt… I always think of Flapper Girls when I say, “ bippie”, LOL! ) There are also, sleeves in the coffee tables, in the secret stash place in his recliner, and I found some in a shoe box with his favorite Cole Haans.
Now that we have established Jack is a hoarder, you will understand why he came unglued last January when he discovers there is only a handful of Doritos left in the bag. We are used to this, it could be the last snack cake, or having to scrape the last of the peanut butter or finding only heals of bread. Lack of supply makes Jack nuts.
There are interrogations, lots of empty container shaking, there might even be some tears. Now all this drama can spiral out of control. When it does it goes something like this..
Jack: Rapid fire talking, “ Who ate (check it) MY Doritos? Did you eat the last of MY Doritos?” Repeat this question for each person in household that is not Jack. Hear stomping as each person is tracked, stopped, and caught in his eagle-like gaze. “ Did you eat the last of MY Doritos?” When all have been interrogated and no one fesses up. ( Why would we? ) He now lifts his head to the Universe and calls out! “ Did you know I only got a handful when they were first opened? There was a whole second bag, where did it go?” Go- go-o-o is the echo in the void.
Jodiann: In her best, Baby-Please-Don’t-Act-Loony Tone, “ That was last week. Chips don’t live to their best by date around here, Sweetie. Its our nature.”
Note to self…This is poor logic, appealing to Jack’s sense of time, or any mention of the laws of nature, even in jest is great foolishness when Drama Level Orange has been reached.
Jack: “Well they should! Is it too much to ask…Is it TOO much to ask that chips last longer than a week so everyone can get an equal amount???”
Jodiann: Stubbornly, “Yes.”
Jack: “ Well then, I am going to buy my own chips and only I will eat them and they will last for weeks!!!” ( I expect diabolical laughter to spew forth, but now… THAT would be too much! )
Jodiann: abandoning logic and the laws of nature, sites the theory of infinite supply: “Jack, Darling. Don’t worry, They haven’t stopped making Doritos. In fact, they are coming off the assembly line, being packed in trucks, speeding to stores right now, These were not really the last ones.”
Jack: ( Pouty but visibly more calm.) “Okay.”
Jodiann: Now how about some Ritz? …and I can make that ham spread you like??
Jack: Incredulously, “We have ham?”
Jodiann: Yes, baby, we have ham.
( …like being out of Doritos makes all other food in the house go away. * eyeroll* )
And there you go. Infinite Supply Theory Saves the Day!! Okay…Infinite Supply AND canned ham to make ham spread AND Ritz crackers….even Infinite Supply Theory needs help now and again.

Challenge Tuesday!
I did the July Scraplift Challenge at DSO Today.
I wanted to do a layout with Jack in it and I found this picture of Jack feeding Ted, our Great Dane cheeze doodles from his mouth. I LOVE this picture. Ted is so gentle, even though he wants those cheezies!! Ted was given up for adoption for digging holes in the yard. We adopted him in 2000 he was 5 then. He must have got in trouble from the man of the house because around 5 PM each evening he would try to get outside to hide. He would hide for about an hour and then come in. He was pretty confused. Eventually Ted got it that Jack didn’t punish. I remember the day Ted decided it was okay to greet his Daddy! The tail wag was never bigger!! He loved his Daddy Jack!
Ted also loved balls. The bigger the better. He could pop a basketball in 10 seconds. It took him that long to get it subdued. LOL! He also loved stealing pumpkins from the garden. He would carry them off and play them much longer than any basketball. He couldn’t pop a pumpkin!! LOL!
After the pumpkins, we just naturally bought all Ted’s toys in Orange whenever it was available. So this layout features a lot of orange. For our Ted aka Theodore Russell Cates.
Love YOU Ted-Ted.
