I Was Golf-Napped!

On Friday I laid out my weekend…it was to be a working weekend. So much to catch up on in the yard now that it stopped raining and the sun had dried things up. There were plants to get ready for winter, grass to cut, pictures to take of the last blooms, the garden set up now so I can remember it in the dead of winter, you know the drill.  Fall is busy for everyone. Inside I was working on a few kits, some scripts for PSP, and my color challenge freebie.  I was going to catch up!  Too good to be true, I should have known. LOL!

I was all kinds of proud of my weekend work plan, then Jack got home, dragged my out to the car, mumbling something about can’t wait till Christmas and shows me the loveliest set of Callaway drivers and fairway woods! I have a sticky place in my heart for Callaways and my hubby has a hole burnt through his wallet because of it.

Long story short, we hit balls out of the yard until sunset, planned a golf trip before bed. Felt guilty about it the next day, so we worked in the yard Saturday. Sunday we set out with my new clubs ( Jack chose one of his NINE sets of clubs to bring, a good wife would remember which ones they were…a good golfer would remember too, but I am fair to middling on both counts!  ** Guffaw ** )

No golf trip is complete without  stopping at the Waffle House to see our favorite people for coffee and carbs.

Then we were off like a steamy herd of buffalo!

We get to our local course and they had a private tournament scheduled so no play for us. How do we forget these things! Every Fall the temperatures drop out of the 100’s and everybody and their brother has  a private weekend tournament! Every year we forget about it, thinking the courses will be lush and cool and how about some golf? How about yeah! Happens to us every year!

Couldn’t find a course to play, except the 9 hole 3 par and we didn’t go there because I was itching to thump my new drivers! Its just an iron course really, all the holes are reachable in one and the longest is like 180 yards, tops.

So, we hit buckets and buckets of golf balls on the range, huddled in the cart and talked strategy and remembered our best shots on holes we wouldn’t be playing. Hit more buckets of balls. Chipped and putted the practice greens and snuck out just as the tourney was starting. It was fun and my new driver wallops! I was getting drives out there to 250-270 yards. ( like in the old days)  The fairway woods were not so good. I kept telling Jack it was because we were not in any fairways! They will sing when we get them out on the course. Which might take a weekday if my glance at the private tourney schedules is any indication.

Ah, Someday!
