Lollygag.

Okay so we can’t save the carpet. I don’t know why we tried now, but let’s just chalk it up to the thing we Cates have for lost causes and long shots.  The house smells like a landfill so the carpet has got to go.

PICT0005a

Yuck!

Why I have kept carpet ( silvery blue carpet at that!) in the doggie bedroom for this long is beyond my understanding. I know why…Im-a slow-a!

The story of my life goes like this. My Mom, an Air Force Master Sergeant’s Wife being 9 1/2 months pregnant with me her 6th child, has a flooded basement. Thinking to handle the problem before her weary hubby comes home ( and partly to induce labor…get this kid out of me!!) she dragged a 10×15 foot wet, rolled up carpet up the stairs, and out of the house. Then she sat on the stoop and waited for the labor pains that were sure to come…nothing, nada, nin.  Why? Because I take my own sweet time, that’s why! LOL! And when I did finally show up I appeared so fast that my parents barely got to the hospital that was a few blocks away before I tap danced out, Ta-Da!

Throughout childhood, it was the same, a day late and a dollar short with a mad-dash at the end, wherever I went. To a waiting school bus in a flurry of uncombed hair, toothbrush sticking out of one side of my mouth, uniform blouse half buttoned and untucked, miss-matched socks in my hand. Soon I gave up on the socks all together and took my detentions. What was I doing instead of getting ready, reading on the toilet or sleeping late because I was up all night…reading! LOL! Or my mom’s favorite “ Jo quit lollygagging”  I am not sure what that means, but if its about staring at an electrical socket and thinking about who decided its suppose to look like that while twirling my hair around my finger,  while hearing the bus driver honkin’ then I did that.

I do that.

As an adult I would love to say I have this thing licked…that I walk through my day with serene knowing and not lollygaggity dream digging followed by wild eyed floppy arm running, but we are being truthful, aren’t we? * giggity* When I know my path I walk. When I have no clear vision I stand around scratching my tookus and then run in circles like my hair is fire as the deadline approaches.  HOOT! I cross the finish line but its not always pretty. Its like I have only 2 speeds when I don’t know where I am going. Barely Moving and Overdrive.  *guffaw!* I would like to develop Cruise Control.   Wish me luck I’ll let you know how it worked out when I am 80! LOL!

Anyway, back to the carpet. I am going to try and dry it out a bit more, just so its easier to handle. I cut away a pretty big portion that was just too nasty for words and drug it out of the house. It was so wet and full of reconstituted dust, aka: mud… it left a snail trail ( is this too much info? * wink*) Its stinking up the back yard now, but I know some dogs who are going to pee on it soon. Its always something,  right?

Things I know for sure…

Carpet is icky.

It stays dirty once it gets that way.

Dust settles in deep where I can’t get to it.

Steam Cleaning just brings the dirt to the top.

Wet Carpet is heavy.  Dang! Bless you Mom!

I cannot make my dogs lay on tile. Not all of them fit on the bed and sofas.

Wood Floor is warmer but not by much.

Maybe with a radiant heating system under the… whoa-no here I go thinking again.

Carpet is soft.

Carpet looks nice after a vacuum.

Dogs like carpet.

*staring at computer screen a long time, butt-scratch*

Bunny Dot Freebie Style

Hey Y’all!

Well got stuff draped all over the place drying out, and we might lose some carpet in the doggie bedroom because it just will not dry ahead of the mold I fear, but all is well. Things just have a way of working out for the best. This little dip in the road is nearly done. WHOO HOO!  Today we put the salvaged stuff back in the closets and we might find the dinning room under all that stuff!  HOOT!!

Got a freebie for ya!

I made these cute bunnies for Easter a few weeks back and THEN I checked the terms of use for the doodle I used. (Doodle by Americo over at Creative Mundi, cute huh!)  You know it helps to read the TOU before whirling off on a design tangent and making bunnies in all colors! DORKY ME!! LOL! Lesson learned! WHOOT! Well turns out I can give this away on my blog, as long as you all remember to use it for personal stuff only. Its a change, from my usual CU for all my styles, so pay attention sweet peeps! Respect the BUNNY! ( Should be a song!)

The background pattern ( without bunnies) will be here soon under the name Light Dot Styles, look for them this week.

I think the extractor we used to pull water from the carpet yesterday had a similar beat to this song, its gotta be, because this song appeared in my head whenever I turned the machine on and disappeared the moment the machine went off! LOL!  Now it can roll around in your heads for a while!  Enjoy!!

Happy Tuesday!

Indoor Rain!

Hey Kiddos, after a long weekend of working in the garden crunching every hand tool imaginable with these old hands, I knocked off early and the boys stayed up late. Good thing they were awake because the fill pump on the toilet went wacko and flooded the house. In less than a hour a running toilet left 2 inches of standing water.  Clean water only! Phew!

One look at the kitchen and we knew something was up…dogs all huddled in there ( high ground) instead of on their doggie beds and sofas. After a night of wet vac ( Jack)  and towel ringing ( myself and the boys) these old hands were wishing I didn’t spend so much time in the garden.  I should have saved some finger mus-ckles for a mild catastrophe! WHOOT!

Anywhoo, today is more clean up and salvage, gotta dry this place out! Thank God for the nudge to install tile all those years ago. Only one bedroom with carpet got hit and it was the doggie bedroom! Weee! Even in hardship God is good.  So not much computing is happening this day, I will be back tomorrow to check in. Its cold today or I would open the house up to dry, yesterday the wind nearly knocked us over outside, would be nice to have some of that working in our favor. Its as still as can be out there this morning…go figure! We have fans ( fake wind) to help us dry up.

We learned something last night, we are a great team! We each found a job and sloshed around next to, on, around and in the face of each other and no one got wild eyed, actually we seemed to be having a pretty good time!! That’s messed up! LOL!

Jack got going for work this morning ( after 2 hours sleep! Go Dude!) and said, …”At least the floors are REALLY clean!”  Always a silver lining! The walls might be soft and mushy at the bottom but the floors are spic and span!! WHOOT!!  I am sure he is happy to go off to DRY work and not have to tackle the clean up and throw away… as well as the mountain of laundry we made sopping up! For years I have let him believe doing laundry is extremely hard! Well a girl has to have some mystery, right?  When he left he bid me good luck with all that. I told him we have machines to do laundry now, he just laughed.  I wonder if he believes me? What must he think those big square things in the “laundry” room are for? *snicker*

Hugs and Dryness!~ *wink*

CT Freebie: Morning Glory Update

Forgive me all for only posting products of late, I meant to write regular post as well, but something went wonky with my blogging program ( Live Writer) after a series of electrical outages last Sunday. I could post and modify the partial posts I had saved ( all the products) but could not write new ones. So I decided to post what I had and catch up with you all when I got the glitches ironed out of Live Writer. Well it took some serious hair pulling, pacing and coffee drinking and some doggie sympathy hugs to get the fix. I finally shouted for help at the Live Writer site and the work around came through late last night !! Whoo HOO! My Live Writer Monster is vanquished! Weeeee!!

While I was working that all out,  TCT gal,  Miss Moe Joe made a Cute-TEE-fied Alpha for you all from my Saint Patrick’s Day Styles. Visit her blog for the freebie download. Num-num!

MJD_Jodiann_Shamrock_Preview

Um, oooh, ahh…I keep thinking of things I would LURVE to tell you all but its all a big secret, can’t show you this, have to keep quiet about that! LOL! So I am going to sit here and smile a big goofy smile.

smiley-emot

Something is definitely up! *tee-hee*

Hey the Morning Glories came up…

Rosemary you were right to tell me to protect them from the cats. Sinclair PICT0225closeup bit the head of 4 of them and nibbled on some others.

They are battered but still standing! Here is a good one, morningglories_up but with the late snow in Texas snow ( that’s nuts!) and hiding them from Sinclair they are a bit pale! Alive is good though! LOL! WHOOT!

Soaking the second set of seeds this weekend, to stagger the plantings. If the weather cooperates we will have these greened up in no time! WHOO HOO!

Gotta’ get on that mower and grass hack! Happy Weekend All!

Snow Flurries Photoshop Styles

Its snowing outside! Okay it might not be where you are, but adding snow to all your projects just got a whole lot easier so it will SOON be snowing inside!
These 9 Photoshop Styles are all seamless and can be dropped right over your entire layout, or be the finishing touch on your winter elements and fonts. Anything can get a sprinkling of snow! Whoo HOO!
I really wanted a shake of snow on some clear Christmas bells I was working on, so I built one for that and then I wanted a lighter sprinkle and then I wanted snowflakes and well I ended up with nine total when the dust settled. You get all nine, 3 of each type.

Type One, 3 Realistic Flurries. Tiny little flakes in light, medium and heavy. Each with some bright standout bits and some to fade nicely into the background to give the feeling of depth. Some Blue bits are added to give an icy look.

Type Two, 3 Classic Snowflakes. The snowflakes we know and love in small, medium and large flake sizes. All seamless remember. Again, some bright solid bits and some that fade to clear to enhance your work, not overpower it.  Again, some blue places to brighten the whites.

Type Three, 3 Iced Snowflakes. Brittle edges added for a dissolving look. Some folks call this "wet snow".  So a little bit of realism added to what we all think snowflakes should look like. Again in small, medium and large flake sizes so even those who have PSE can get the size they need. Blue bits here too.

Original Styles created by Jodiann Cates using a combination of Photoshop textures and shapes.

Did you know the HEART is the most popular shape? Not the circle, not the square? My kids told me that so I believe it! I like the sound of it too. What would it say about us, humans if the square was the most popular shape? *wink*

These 16 heart styles are seamless and drop shadow free. Make papers and large elements jump out with hundreds of little hearts or add just enough to a small element. These styles were built small, each one barely a half inch ( 4.5 mm ) so there will be enough to go around on small items as well as large. Not a bunch of cut off bits that might be hearts, if you know what I mean.

Each style has a double dose of shiny. The hearts have a hint of shine and they all float in a sea of light shiny goodness. The clear backgrounds will allow lower layers to show through, but you will have to duplicate the layer you add the style to if you want it to show. For this tip explained further and for other helpful hints check out the text file included with your download.

Colors: Red, Pink, White, Black.

These 8 Pastel Gelly Square Styles are completely seamless, the transparent background contains no shadows whatsoever and there is no acrylic overlay. You can add your own dropshadows and acrylic overlays. Try my Clear Day Styles for a variety of Acrylics. These squares take the shiny stuff just fine. Great for layering with The Gelly Heart Styles over the top…YUM!
Make papers and large elements jump out with checkerboard pattern or build a slim border with only a line or two. These styles were built small, each square barely a half inch ( 4.5 mm ) so there will be enough to go around on small items as well as large. NOT a bunch of cut off bits that might be squares, if you know what I mean. *grin*
The clear backgrounds allow lower layers to show through, but you will have to duplicate the layer you add the style to if you want it to show. For this tip explained further in the enclosed Read Me File which also has other helpful hints as well as unpacking instructions.
