Scrap Abbreviations & Terms

Hey we were all new once. Its wasn’t so long ago I was scratching my head when I read things like CU and S4H. LO = Layout.  A digital scrapbook page.

QP = Quickpage. Aka: Plopper.  A premade Layout with transparencies where your pictures will go. A fast way to digital scrapbook.

Zip = A file  compressed to make it smaller. Like folding  a note to fit in your pocket Zips must be opened to read and use after downloading.

Download = Bringing  a packet, often zipped files, to your computer.

Upload = Sending LOs or zipped files for viewing or download.

Digitial Scrap Kit = A collection of  image files to build  a  layout.   

TOU = Terms of Use. Designer determined guidelines for sharing.

PU = Personal Use. For your use only. Check the TOU on each download for specifics.

CU = Commercial Use. For sharing under certain conditions. Check TOU on each download for specifics.

CU4CU = Commercial Use For Commercial Use.  Revolving resale.  Buy it, design with it, resell it for someone else to do the same. 

CU4PU = Commercial Use For Personal Use. Resale. Buy it, design with it, resell it for Personal Use only.  

S4H =  Scrap For Hire. A service business. Forming finished scrapbook pages from someone else’s pictures for a fee. 

S4O =  Scrap For Others. A donated service. Forming finished scrapbook pages from someone else’s pictures without pay.  

PTU = Pay To Use.  A  for pay digital item.

CT = Creative Team. Enlisted by Designers to “create” layouts, tags, and hybrid items.

Freebie = Free to download and use. Aka: FTU.

FTU = Free To Use digital item. Free  to download and use.

Hybrid = Using digital scrapbooking kits and techniques, a printer, and tactile scrapbooking techniques in a single project. 

Full Size = Kit/Item is standard scrapbooking size of  12×12 inch format.  Included digital papers will print at 12×12 without modification.  

8×11 Size = Kit/Item is preferred by those who wish to create digital work  and print out at home on most common US paper size.

Tagger Size = Kit/Item is 20% of standard scrapbooking size. Usually no bigger than 600 x 600 pixels.  

Tagging = Making small digital images to attach to emails or use on webpages.

Blinkie Tag =   Small ( usually 50 x 150 pixels) digital image with moving pictures. 

PS = Photoshop. Graphics Program by Adobe Corp. Different versions may be used.  PS CS2, PS CS3, PS CS4, PSE

PSE = Photoshop Elements. Graphics Program by Adobe Corp.

PSP = Paint Shop Pro. Graphics Program by Corel Corp. Different versions may be used. PSP8, PSP9, PSPX, etc.

AS =  Animation Shop. Graphics Animation Program  ( usually used in conjuction with PSP)

Action = Automated list of  instructions PS and PSE uses to create image effects and in some cases whole  new images.

Script = Automated list of instructions PSP uses to create image and font effects as well as whole  new images in some cases.
